Mercaptan Removal and Fuel Sweetening

The mercaptan oxidation process is an efficient and economical catalytic process developed for the chemical treatment of liquified petroleum gas (or LPG) and condensate for removal of sulfur present as mercaptans. The process relies on a special catalyst to accelerate the oxidation of mercaptans to disulfides at near economical product rundown temperature.

Activated carbon serves as a perfect substrate for impregnation with any oxidation catalyst used in the removal of mercaptans from LPG, propane, butanes, light naphthas, kerosene and jet fuel by converting them to liquid hydrocarbon disulfides.
