Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks the Start of Jacobi Group’s Latest Project, a Multi-Million Euro Reactivation Plant, the First of Its Kind in France

On November 18th, 2025 Jacobi Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for its major investment in the city of Vierzon, France. Attended by the Mayor of Vierzon, the Deputy Prefect of Vierzon, the Deputy of Cher Department, and the Vice-President of Economy of Centre-Val de Loire Region, amongst other distinguished guests from the French authorities, this moment marked the start of construction of the Groups second manufacturing site reinforcing its unique footprint in France and concrete action towards The Sustainability Journey.

For the new undertaking Jacobi Carbons France (JCF) will dedicate the second site to the Services division of the business. This entails accompanying its customers for environmental protection through filtration of air and water using the Mobile Filtration Units (MFU). The investment creates a solid platform for the full MFU cycle going hand in hand with the in-house Reactivation Plant allowing for recycling of the spent media. The venture will drive the industry towards a more circular economy with rapid and efficient solutions served from the Centre of France across Europe. Currently, there are no solutions in France for reactivating spent media from industrial applications, making this project strategic and a first for the country.

This new plant will need to be seen as part of the French critical infrastructure for environmental protection” said Erik Lauer, Jacobi Group’s EMEA President. “Its capabilities will support essential processes that help secure clean water and clean air for the decades ahead. By strengthening the circular economy of activated carbon, we contribute directly to the health and well-being of communities throughout France and Europe.

The new site will sit 7km from the Jacobi’s current base in the industrial zone of Forges, which has been in operation for 70 years, with a track record of activated carbon production for potable water, food, pharmaceutical and specialty applications.

The Group’s new investment contributes positively to the society with creation of dozens of new jobs in France and notably in Vierzon spanning various functions such as production, laboratory, logistics, and sales.

Being our first greenfield investment in Europe, the Project Team has worked in close collaboration with all external stakeholders over the past years to ensure that our new site not just meets but exceeds the environmental and ecological criteria. After all, our product and solutions are intended to protect the environment and so our factories will always be aligned with this mission” states Usman Saeed, Jacobi Group’s EMEA Operations Director.

Site inauguration is scheduled for third quarter of 2026 with comprehensive MFU solutions and Reactivation capability coming online from end of 2027.

Jacobi would like to thank its partners for their continued support:
