Sustainable Ion Exchange Resins
The transition from traditional acrylonitrile-based weak acid cation (WAC) resin produced in Asia to methyl acrylate-based WAC 100% made in Europe, with a long-term vision of shifting to ion exchange systems derived from solely sustainable raw materials, eliminating fossil fuel-based chemistry. These two steps not only enhance overall operational efficiency, but also reduce environmental footprint, aligning with Jacobi’s commitment to sustainability.
Municipal Water Treatment
In municipal water applications, where our powder activated carbons (PAC) from the MP series are used to remove critical contaminants, such as toxic pesticides or carcinogenic endocrine disruptors, we are pioneering the adoption of coconut-based PAC blends with peat-based alternatives made in Europe, moving away from traditional lignite or coal sources. Using peat taken from dedicated peat deposits in Finland exhibits a substantially lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than the use of bituminous or lignite-based coal from mining operations. In the long run, Jacobi aims to achieve a future where PAC is sourced entirely from renewable materials.
