To follow up on the situation in India where we have stabilized the situation around the COVID-19 cases at JCN (NOVA).
The situation at JCB in Coimbatore is getting more challenging by the day. Fortunately, there are still no COVID-19 cases at JCB. Also, this is to update you on the situation in all other locations where we have operations. I think it is important to continue sharing with our customers how Jacobi is handling the challenging situation in India.
It shows that Jacobi is not immune to the virus. It also shows that we were fully prepared to act immediately through our Emergency Response Plan: to protect the safety and well-being of our people, contain the spread of the virus through and extensive testing, contact tracing and quarantine program, and make sure that the output of the plant is secured in order to have the least impact on the shipping schedule to ourcustomers.
We are allowing (domestic) travel to customers as of September 1, but only to those customers who are comfortable receiving visits or where visits are critically important. Air and train travel (where potentially large groups of people gather at stations) need to be pre-approved by the regional President (see communication of 2 week ago). International and internal travel are still not allowed till the end of the year.
Since charcoal and logistics costs are continuously increasing, we will increase our prices in Q4. We will take the coming month of September to communicate with our customers and explain that we have to increase prices as of October 1, 2020.
I am impressed with the way we continue dealing with the situation in a close X-functional team effort and especially proud of the way the Indian team is handling the tough circumstances they currently experience. The team work, resilience, determination and drive we see from all departments are amazing and make a difference each and every day. I feel proud to be part of it. This gives me the confidence that Jacobi will come out of this crisis stronger.
After the European team has organized a virtual COVID-19 run to Kalmar, followed by virtual swimming/sailing to Columbus, OH, the team has now decided to head to Tamil Nadu, India where we face most COVID-19 challenges. By doing this, we are raising money (we turn miles into EURO’s) and are mentally supporting our Indian colleagues during this challenging time.
Keep up the good work. We can do this together! Stay safe, stay strong!
