Beer

There are numerous applications for activated carbon in breweries, covering process water treatment for dechlorination (with AquaSorb C series or 1000 series carbons), chloramine removal (with AquaSorb CX-MCA), colour removal (with ColourSorb G series or ColourSorb HP series powdered carbons), odour removal (with ColourSorb CP1), and carbon dioxide purification (EcoSorb GXB).

Colourant

Activated carbon serves as an ideal additive for pigmentation used in liquorice production.  Jacobi provides our high purity ColourSorb SP-E153 and ColourSorb E153-Pharma carbons for this application.

Sweeteners

One of the most common applications of activated carbon is the purification of various sweeteners, including sucrose, glucose and fructose syrup. Jacobi offers a variety of ColorSorb grades (H100 and H600 series granular carbons, G series and HP series powders) for all forms of sweetener treatment for the removal of colour and other unwanted byproducts.

Lactic Acid

Activated is commonly used for the decolorisation of extracts uses in the lactic acid process.  Our ColourSorb G series and ColourSorb HP series powdered carbons have been used in this service.

Coffee & Tea

Activated carbon is often employed for the decaffeination of coffee and tea.  Our ColourSorb W7-H product has served successfully in this application.

Mono Sodium Glutamate (MSG)

Activated carbon is often used for decolorisation (ColourSorb HP series and ColourSorb Z series) and combination colour/organic removal (ColourSorb HPX-N) of MSG.

Citric Acid

Jacobi offers both granular (ColourSorb H150-LC with low chloride content) and powdered (ColourSorb G series) grades for the purification of citric acid, removing unwanted colour compounds.

Glycerine

Activated carbon serves multiple needs for glycerine production, including tabilisation and ageing control of the final product, and the removal of unwanted colours and byproducts. Our ColourSorb 600 series carbons are an excellent option for this application.

Soft Drinks/Bottled Water

There are numerous applications for activated carbon in the production of soft drinks and bottled water, covering process water treatment for dechlorination (with AquaSorb C series or 1000 series carbons), chloramine removal (with AquaSorb CX-MCA), sugar syrup decolorisation and stabilisation (with ColourSorb G series or ColourSorb HP series powdered carbons), odour removal (with ColourSorb CP1), and carbon dioxide purification (EcoSorb GXB).

Wine

In the wine industry, activated carbon serves to control haze, odour and colour in the final product. Jacobi offers several powdered grades, including ColorSorb CP1 for odour and ColorSorb G series and ColorSorb HP series powders for colour. Our offerings include products that meet stringent oneological standards required by many wineries.

Gelatin

For gelatin purification and decolorisation, Jacobi supplies our ColourSorb G series and ColourSorb C series powdered carbons.

Scrap Candy

Activated carbon helps with reprocessing/recycling of off-specification product in the candy industry.  Our ColourSorb G series and ColourSorb HP series powdered carbons are an excellent alternative for this use.

Edible Oil

Activated carbon is commonly used for edible oil purification, for both colour modification and toxin (PAH) removal. Our ColourSorb XFP series powdered carbons provide industry leading performance in this application.

Fruit Juice

In fruit juice production, activated carbon serves as a useful media for decolorisation (Jacobi offers ColourSorb G series products for light colours and ColourSorb HP series products for dark colours), deodorisation/patulin removal (ColourSorb CP1), and the removal of unwanted byproducts such as HMF (ColourSorb G series).
